Patient Preparations: Routine blood draw
Specimen Requirements: Minimum of 0.5 ml serum
Specimen Handling & Transport: Store serum specimen at 2-8 degrees C and transport with frozen cool packs.

Unacceptable Conditions: Lipemic, hemolysed or heat inactivated serum may cause erroneous results.
Requisition Form: CDD Requisition Form B
Required Information: Laboratory regulations require the following minimum information to be provided on the requisition form for a specimen to be accepted for testing: Patient name or unique identifier; date and time of collection, patient date of birth and sex, specimen type/site of collection, test request(s), clinician name and UPIN, and address for reporting results. Please be certain that name/identifier on the form matches that on the specimen label.
Results Include: Measles IgG Antibody Negative, Positive, or Equivocal with interpretation
Limitations: Samples collected too soon after vaccination or infection may not have detectable levels of IgG; a second sample may be collected after 2-7 weeks to detect seroconversion.
Additional Tests Recommended: Measles Virus PCR and Measles IgM Antibody are recommended for diagnosis of a current Measles infection.
