Required Information: | Laboratory regulations require the following minimum information to be provided on the requisition form for a specimen to be accepted for testing: Patient name or unique identifier, date and time of collection, patient date of birth and sex, specimen type/site of collection, test request(s), clinician name and UPIN, and address for reporting results. Please be certain that name/identifier on the form matches that on the specimen label. |
Rejection Criteria: | Lipemic, hemolysed or heat inactivated serum may cause erroneous results. |
Specimen Handling: | Store serum specimen at 2-8 °C and transport with frozen cold packs. Freeze (-20 to -80°C) specimen if testing will not be performed within 5 days of collection and ship on dry ice. |

Limitations: | Samples collected too soon after vaccination or infection may not have detectable levels of IgG; a second sample may be collected after 2-7 weeks to detect seroconversion. |
Additional Tests Recommended: | Measles Virus PCR (VR01713) and Measles IgM Antibody (SS02120) are recommended for diagnosis of a current Measles infection. |
