Contraindications:

Not intended for use in screening blood or plasma donors.

Additional Tests Performed:

Hepatitis B Core IgM Antibody SS00071 and Hepatitis B Surface Antigen SS00077 testing is automatically performed if Core Antibody is positive but Surface Antibody is negative to assess for acute infection. Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Confirmatory Assay SS00079 is automatically performed if surface antigen is detected. This reflex testing will occur automatically and will incur additional charges.

Required Information:

Laboratory regulations require the following minimum information to be provided on the requisition form for a specimen to be accepted for testing: Patient name or unique identifier, date and time of collection, patient date of birth and sex, specimen type/site of collection, test request(s), clinician name and UPIN, and address for reporting results. Please be certain that name/identifier on the form matches that on the specimen label.

Rejection Criteria:

Specimens that have been heat-inactivated, pooled, grossly hemolyzed, or have obvious microbial contamination. Specimens stored for more than 7 days not frozen at -20 °C. Cadaveric specimens or body fluids other than human serum are unacceptable.

Specimen Handling:

Specimens must be stored refrigerated (2-8 °C) and transported to the lab with frozen cold packs. Freeze serum if testing will not be performed within 7 days of collection.

Chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA)
