| Recommended Uses: | Testing for patients with signs and/or symptoms of acute febrile illness and known or suspected exposure to viral hemorrhagic fever causing viruses. Evaluation for more common acute febrile illnesses should be considered and should include travel history, exposure risk, and consultation of the CDC yellow book prior to use of this panel. |
| Pre-approval: | Required prior to submission. During business hours please contact CDD Customer Service at (800) 862-1013. After hours, please contact the 24/7 Emergency pager at (608) 263-3280 Additional pre-approval will also be required by the Wisconsin Division of Public Health (608) 258-0099 and CDC Viral Special Pathogens Branch. |
| Contraindications: | Specimens other than whole blood will be rejected. Some pathogens in this assay have other preferred diagnostic testing methods and may be rejected for this test based on evaluation. |

| Specimen Requirements: | Human whole blood collected in plastic EDTA tubes. Two EDTA tubes requested. Minimum of 4 mL total. Send immediately. Stable refrigerated (2-8°C) for up to 7 days. |

| Required Information: | Laboratory regulations require the following minimum information to be provided on the requisition form for a specimen to be accepted for testing: Patient name or unique identifier, date and time of collection, patient date of birth and sex, specimen type/site of collection, test request(s), clinician name and UPIN, and address for reporting results. Please be certain that name/identifier on the form matches that on the specimen label which is required to have a minimum of two identifiers. |
